Share the Love: Community Care Event Brings Education and Community Together in San Marcos

San Marcos, CA – February 18, 2026 — Smith Chason College’s San Marcos campus recently hosted its Share the Love: Community Care Event, welcoming students, faculty, and community members for an afternoon centered on connection, education, and service. The event transformed the campus’s back parking lot into a space where healthcare education met real-world community impact.

A Hands-On Learning Experience with Community Impact

A key highlight of the event was the opportunity for attendees to receive free educational ultrasound scans, performed by Smith Chason College students under the supervision of qualified faculty.

These scans included:

  • Abdominal
  • Thyroid
  • Vascular
  • Carotid
  • Obstetric (OB)

Designed as a learning experience, these scans provided students with valuable hands-on training while offering guests a unique opportunity to engage with healthcare technology in an accessible and supportive environment. As emphasized throughout the event, all scans were educational in nature and not intended for diagnosis or treatment.

Strengthening Community Through Partnership

The event also featured a strong presence of community partners who play an essential role in advancing public health and access to resources across the region.

Participating partners included:

  • Feeding San Diego
  • Planned Parenthood
  • San Diego Blood Bank
  • Live Well San Diego
  • TrueCare

Each organization provided valuable information, resources, and services, creating opportunities for attendees to connect directly with trusted local healthcare and community support networks.

A Day of Connection, Learning, and Community

Beyond clinical learning and community resources, the event created space for meaningful connection. Guests, students, and faculty spent time engaging with one another, sharing experiences, and building relationships that extend beyond the classroom.

A taco truck was also on site, providing a quick bite for participants.

Supporting Education Through Real-World Experience

The Share the Love: Community Care Event reflects Smith Chason College’s commitment to preparing students through hands-on learning opportunities. By participating in events like this, students can apply their training in real-world settings while engaging directly with the communities they will one day serve.

These experiences help bridge the gap between education and practice, reinforcing both technical skills and professional confidence.

Thank You to Our Community

Smith Chason College extends its sincere gratitude to all students, faculty, community partners, and attendees who contributed to the success of this event. Their participation helped create an experience that was both impactful and memorable.

As the College continues to expand opportunities for community engagement and experiential learning, events like Share the Love remain an important part of connecting education with real-world impact.
